There were 405 players who took part in the 2017 WSOP $2,500 Omaha Hi-Lo event.
It was a keenly contested event and at the end of the day, it was Smith Sirisakorn who had the final laugh. He took home the first WSOP gold bracelet of his career and also the top prize of $215,902.
Sirisakorn did not have any live cash earnings to report about when he entered the tournament. He has only one cash from a tournament and that was many years ago. He mainly plays cash game in Los Angeles and loves playing the Stud/8, $40 or $80 limits or the Omaha/8 disciplines.
Smith said that he did not play in many tournaments. He is just a recreational player even though he has loads of experience playing in the cash games. Sirisakorn entered the final day of the event with a decent stack. He was in 3rd position among the final 14 players who made it to the final day. Unibet has been in the news for a while now.
There have been several events and changes that the poker company has been gearing up this year. The Open Main Event that is coming up in Pokerfest Romania is being sponsored by Unibet and it promises to be a long event that will span four days. With a guarantee finale that has a prize money of half a million, there is a large cap on the number of participants for the event. Unibet Open, Copenhagen was planned as a qualifier event for the upcoming event in November. The Copenhagen event also saw Kenny Hallaert take over responsibilities as Unibet Open tournament director who has the title of WSOP November Niner. Since the August events concluded there has been the Unibet Poker 2.0 software release that was much talked about. It is also set to release during the Unibet Open Bucharest event. Jerry Wong is a very happy man. He has won the 2017 WPTDeepStacks SHR Lucky Hearts Poker Open Ultimate Re-Entry Event getting the better of 4,756 entries to win $250,000.
He has bettered his record at the World Poker Tour event as he finished in the 8th
position out of 6,737 entries in 2016 for a World Series of Poker main event. He has proved once again that he can find his way through a massive field and eventually get to a position of reckoning and that is to enter the final table.
It was a $360 buy-in tournament and the 4,756 entries recorded was the second largest tournament entry registered in the history of poker in Florida. The increase in the number of entries meant that the $500,000 guarantee was demolished and it went on to become a $1,426,800 prize pool. That’s a lot of money. (more…)
The poker champions Montreal Nationals made it to the top by defeating The Berlin Bears to become the first winners of GPL season 1.
They won $100,000 as the first prize in the Global Poker League. The winner Sorel Mizzi achieved victory with a win over Mike McDonald. He expressed his views on his victory by saying a few words. He always dreamt of playing poker, but was always contemplating if he could succeed in the game. Football has always been the true love for almost 30 years for the player, but he never thought that anything could match up to this lovely game. The player would have never played poker with enthusiasm if he did not have the ability to win or lose funding. Money is the main attraction that keeps you engrossed in the game and without it, there is no fun.
Soon after the GPL Draft was finished in the month of February, the player had 2 teams for him that stood out. One was the London Royals which looked competitive and the other one was the Montreal Nationals. Both teams made it to the Playoffs in Las Vegas. Professional poker player Jennifer Harman, earlier this month, was inducted in Poker Hall of Fame at an event in Downtown Las Vegas. Jennifer as well as her fellow poker pro John Juanda became the No. 49 and No. 50 members of Poker Hall of Fame.
Harman, now 50, had been among the pask of 10 finalists many times in recent times, but had always fallen short till this year. Jennifer has around US$ 2.5 million in event earnings, with 2 career bracelets, but he is known for winning an incalculable amount millions in cash games.
A leading poker news site recently talked to Jennifer following her induction. Following her induction, there are millions and millions of people who engage in poker and there are just fifty in Poker Hall of Fame. Now, this is quite an honor to be among those pros at this point of time. This is freaking unbelievable. He feels that she has grinded and put in a lot of hard work to get the acknowledgment for what she has done. This makes her feel very good.
